Entry requirements

To study a programme at the University of Huddersfield International Study Centre, you will need to meet certain conditions, called entry requirements. 

These requirements consist of:

  • English language – this is the required Academic IELTS for UKVI score (or equivalent) that shows language proficiency
  • Academic qualifications – these requirements are shown by country
  • Minimum age – this is how old you need to be at the start of the course
  • Nationality – all our programmes are available to international and EU students. 

The admission requirements for international students vary per course at the University of Huddersfield International Study Centre.

International Foundation Year

  • Academic: Good high school graduation grades or equivalent academic study^ (see table below)
  • English language: SELT (UKVI IELTS or Trinity Test) equivalent to IELTS 4.5 overall (min 4.0 in writing and no lower than 4.0 all other skills)*^^
  • Age: 17+ (in the September or October of the academic year you wish to start at the International Study Centre). Must turn 18 before the start of your undergraduate degree

MalaysiaSPM (Malaysia Certificate of Education) with 3 A-- C grades or above in relevant subjects

Pakistan

Year 10 (SSC): 60% overall (if total marks are out of 1050 or 1100) or 65% overall (if total marks are out of 850).

Year 11 (Intermediate Part I): 60% overall with passes in min 4 subjects.

Year 12 (HSC / Intermediate certificate(Part I & II)) or Polytechnic Diploma: 50% overall with passes in min 4 subjects.

(Note: 40% in relevant subjects required, must be taken from the year assessed.)

International Year One

  • Academic: One or more of the following:
    • Excellent (senior) high school graduation grades
    • Completed A Levels, IB or an internationally-recognised Foundation Year programme
    • Completed the first year of an HND or Advanced Diploma
    • In the first year of study on a relevant undergraduate degree
    • Experience: Relevant work experience (for mature students only)
  • English language: Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.5 (or equivalent)*^ Please note: for students starting in November, the English language entry requirement is Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0 (or equivalent)
  • Age: 17+

MyanmarBasic Education High school Matriculation = 11 years. Minimum of 60% achieved overall, inc 60% in 4 relevant subjects + 1 further year of study. Further year can include GAC - GPA 1.00
