What is the International Foundation Year?
The International Foundation Year will develop your academic knowledge and English language skills to prepare you for the first year of your chosen undergraduate degree. This is a two-semester foundation programme with a choice of five pathways.

who completed their International Foundation Year and achieved the required grades were offered a place at the University of Huddersfield in 2023.
Is the International Foundation Year right for you?
The International Foundation Year is perfect for international students who do not meet the academic qualifications to study the intensive International Year One programme, but who wish to progress to the first year of an undergraduate degree. It is tailored to students that are looking to improve their academic knowledge and English language skills to get the most out of their university studies.
What can you expect?
Teaching will take place through a mix of face-to-face and virtual teacher-led learning. Find out more about what you can expect when you join us on campus.
You will cover core modules in all five pathways including English language and study skills aimed to give you the language and related academic skills to reach your full potential at university.
Alongside your core modules, you will also study subject-specific modules, which are related to your chosen programme and are significant for your academic development.
In just one year, you will develop your English language, study skills and subject knowledge to prepare you for your degree.
