The Extended International Year One in Marketing route will prepare you for direct entry to the second year of a Marketing degree.
You will study core modules, which are general skills subjects, and route modules, which are specific and important for your academic development.
This programme is designed to support you through strengthening your English language level.

In this module you will be exposed to a range of activities and tasks which will enable you to become a reflective, independent learner, able to identify your strengths and action to ameliorate areas for improvement. As part of these activities you will be introduced to the different internal and external elements of a business, helping you to understand the context in which a business operates, exploring aims and characteristics of businesses and what makes them unique. You will also develop an understanding of key concepts and business vocabulary. This module will also help you to develop team working skills, which will help you prepare for active engagement in group projects, and enable you to participate dynamically in the International year One and then your degree studies thereafter.
This module will give you a basic grounding in financial and management accounting which will be provide a basis for further personal development in work and further study, whatever career you decide to enter into. The module will progress from the understanding of the basic financial statements through to interpretation and critical analysis of these. The provision of internal information to aid management will also be covered, together with some of the fundamental techniques that are used for costing, pricing and appraising decisions.
The purpose of this module is to introduce you to key legal aspects and their impact on business. The module introduces you to areas of employment and contract law and will develop their ability to apply legal issues to real organisations.
This is a double module which will allow you to develop an understanding of the principles of Management Economics and Marketing. It will enable you to understand the behaviour of markets and the responses of businesses to that behaviour through your marketing activities, The module will also equip you with the confidence and knowledge to develop an understanding of marketing theory and practice and develop the skills to produce a well-researched marketing plan, through the application of relevant economic theories.
The aim of the module is to develop a range of skills relevant to the varied demands of the marketing industry through practical application. You will develop descriptive, analytical and decision making skills. The module also seeks to develop transferable personal skills using the demands of the many sectors of the marketing industries within the UK as a vehicle.
You will work in the context of a branding project, and will therefore be introduced to brands, their evolution and reasons for their success. You will research current trends in branding, and using a case study of a leading brand, and will demonstrate an understanding of how companies create positive brand images and encourage loyalty.
Academic: Good high school graduation grades or equivalent
English language: Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.5 or equivalent*
Age: 18 years of age or above.

*You will be issued with a University of Huddersfield CAS (Visa Sponsor) for the full duration of your studies (Extended International Year One plus three years at the University, covering an optional placement year if required), which will require you to have the equivalent of a minimum UKVI IELTS 5.5 with no individual score below 5.5
